Sugar Learning Platform

The free and open-source software project is now being coordinated by Sugar Labs which itself is a member project of the non-profit Software Freedom Conservancy.

Sugar is aimed at being a versatile and easily accessible learning platform for young children all around the globe. Thanks to the platform being free and open-source it can be and is already being adapted according to the requirements of different projects and school systems. Apart from being easily accessible Sugar also offers a broad range of software ranging from typing tutors and games to very powerful multimedia authoring systems such as eToys, Scratch, and Turtle Art.

Almost all of the 1.5 to 2 million XO laptops which OLPC has distributed to date come with Sugar. Additionally it can also be run off a USB flash drive or installed on other non-XO laptops.
